Baked Ziti

Baked ziti is made with ziti, tomato sauce, mozzarella, ricotta, peccorino romano, parmesan. You'll love. Mangia mangia

Equipment

  • 1 Baking Pan 9×13

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lbs Ziti
  • 1 medium Yellow onion
  • 1 lbs Ground beef optional
  • 2 jars (24oz) Pasta sauce fresh (preferred) or store-bought
  • 3 Tbsp Olive oil
  • 1.5 Cups Ricotta
  • 8 oz Mozzarella block (preferred) or shredded
  • 3 oz Pecorrino or Parmesan cheese or both

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400F.
  • Cook ziti to al dente in pot and drain.
  • While ziti is cooking, finely chop onion. Brown the onion and ground beef in large saucepan on medium high heat.
  • Add pasta sauce to the beef and onion and simmer for 10-15 minutes to make Bolognese sauce
  • Oil the bottom and sides of the baking dish
  • In large bowl or ziti pot, combine pasta, Bolognese, ricotta, 6 oz of shredded mozzarella, and 2 oz of pecorrino or parmesan and mix well
  • Pour contents into baking pan/casserole dish
  • Cover with remaining mozzarella and parmesan or pecorrino.
  • Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes.
