Baked Ziti

Ingredients
- 1 lbs Ziti
- 1 medium Yellow onion
- 1 lbs Ground beef optional
- 2 jars (24oz) Pasta sauce fresh (preferred) or store-bought
- 3 Tbsp Olive oil
- 1.5 Cups Ricotta
- 8 oz Mozzarella block (preferred) or shredded
- 3 oz Pecorrino or Parmesan cheese or both
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400F.
- Cook ziti to al dente in pot and drain.
- While ziti is cooking, finely chop onion. Brown the onion and ground beef in large saucepan on medium high heat.
- Add pasta sauce to the beef and onion and simmer for 10-15 minutes to make Bolognese sauce
- Oil the bottom and sides of the baking dish
- In large bowl or ziti pot, combine pasta, Bolognese, ricotta, 6 oz of shredded mozzarella, and 2 oz of pecorrino or parmesan and mix well
- Pour contents into baking pan/casserole dish
- Cover with remaining mozzarella and parmesan or pecorrino.
- Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes.
